From the Commander:
Hello and welcome to the American Legion, Post 197
Web Site.
We held our Memorial Day Service at the
Marlborough Cemetary at 1:30 PM on Monday, May 25
(the Post Color Guard and the VFW Firing Squad
participated in this) and all were welcome to attend.
Special thanks to Mr. Ron Brady (who played TAPS).
I would like to thank those who participated in the
"Post Cleanup" on May 2nd. They did a great
job - the list of participants is on the buletin board.
At a recent Legion meeting,
the members voted to change the mtg time to Noon.
So, the Legion meetings will be held on the second
Sunday of the month at Noon.
Two things I will be focusing on this year:
Increased attendance at Post meetings and increased
volunteerism.
I really would like to see more members attending the meetings.
Talk to you soon,
Bernie Hoyland, Cmdr

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans organization, devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is a not-for-profit community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members, men and women, in nearly 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide.
